Food Standards Code
The preparation and sale of food and beverages in Tasmania, even on a one-off basis or by a not-for-profit organisation, is regulated by the Tasmanian Food Act 2003 and the National Food Standards Code. This includes offering food or beverages as a prize or reward, and giving food away for the purpose of advertisement or in furtherance of trade or business.
The standards in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code are legislative instruments under the Legislation Act 2003. The authoritative versions of these standards are on the Australian Government Federal Register of Legislation or via the Food Standards Gazette notices here. Please Contact Us via email, if you have further queries relating to the Food Standards Code. We will give as much product-specific advice as we can offer. Product of Tasmania does not provide advice on compliance with the Code. Product of Tasmania exercises due diligence, when vetting new suppliers of new sealed food products. Product of Tasmania requires that all such suppliers are compliant with all relevent state and federal laws, ie: food handling legislation.
As a policy, Product of Tasmania does not deal with food items which:
- are not completely sealed, all items remain sealed through to dispatch
- require paticular temperatures (hotter or cooler) for their longevity or safety
- have limited shelf life, making them unfeasible for online sales
- are fragile or susceptible to damage during freight, making them unfeasible for distribution
Our priority is your safety. All food products available on Product of Tasmania, adhere to strict manufafturing and labelling guidelines. For more infornmation about our Food Policy, please contact us.
It is the responsibility of the customer to provide the correct postage delivery address for their order. Similarly, customers are asked to provide correct phone and email contact details, so Product of Tasmania can make contact in the event that there is a delay, or any other issue arises with shipping their order.
Product of Tasmania cannot be held responsible for deliveries that go missing on delivery or which are held at a post office, undeliverable, returned etc, if this is the result of the customer’s providing an incorrect or unclear address. In the event the customer’s items are returned to us, Product of Tasmania will attempt contact with the customer, to confirm the delivery details are correct, before resending the package. This will be done at the customer’s expense, being equal to the standard flat-rate fee https://productoftasmania.com.au/flat-rate-shipping/.
